OK, so I'm not really an big ice cream eater (although, believe me, I can eat things that are bad for me!), but we stopped today at a Cold Stone Creamery. And, it was really a pretty darn good experience! If you haven’t been to one yet, you should try it out! And, if you’re really an ice cream fan, holy smokers you’ll have fun! The thing about them is that they make their own ice cream right there in the store. No tubs of ice cream shipped frozen solid across the country. Nope, it’s made fresh right there. And then when your order something, they make that right there too! Yep, mixing it on a cold stone!
Here’s a little bit about their start from their web site:
Using only the finest ingredients, the Sutherlands produced the highest quality ice cream available…making it fresh each day in their store. Every ice cream creation was then made to order for each customer by blending in mix-ins on a frozen granite stone (the Cold Stone!), and served in a fresh-baked waffle cone. Word soon spread far and wide among ice cream lovers that Cold Stone Creamery’s® ice cream was the best, and the revolution began! In 1995, the first franchise store opened in Tucson, Arizona, followed by the first out-of-state store in Camarillo, California.
The Sutherlands’ tradition of quality ice cream, served by friendly people, in a fun-filled environment has spread to over 650 stores across the country, with more than 850 additional stores now under development.
Passion. The Cornerstone of Cold Stone®
Passion is without a doubt the beating heart of Cold Stone Creamery®. Passion for people. Passion for success. And above all, passion for ice cream! But allow us to redefine “ice cream” (something we’re having an awfully good time doing). Here, traditional ice cream is replaced by an original Cold Stone Creation®. That is, our freshly made, smooth and creamy ice cream blended with mix-ins of nuts, fruits and candy to artistic perfection -- and most importantly to your own exact specifications -- on a frozen stone. All served up in the entertaining environment of your local Cold Stone Creamery®. Say good-bye to frozen predictability and hello to a whole new way to experience dessert. But can you really go wrong when making people happy is your number one priority? At Cold Stone Creamery®, our company’s mission is to put smiles on people’s faces by delivering the Ultimate Ice Cream Experience. No wonder ice cream lovers across 46 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and Puerto Rico all agree: Cold Stone® is definitely, passionately doing something very right.
And you know what? They really did deliver a good experience and it really did seem like they enjoyed making the ice cream for us. And we certainly enjoyed eating it! If you've tried Cold Stone Creamery, let me know what you thought of the experience. It’ll be interesting to see if they can keep up everything they’re doing when they have almost 1500 stores opened. Even though I don’t really eat a lot of ice cream, I sure hope so! It makes my wife happy and that always make me happy!

Cold Stone Creamery ice cream is like crack cocaine to me. I tried it once and I'm addicted now. If you haven't yet tried the "Coffee Lovers Only," you don't know what you're missing. I'm not a coffee drinker, but that ice cream mixture is to die for. The "Founder's Favorite" is also great.
Thanks.
