MarketingMonger: Um...Interpublic, where are your blogs?
Fun follow-up to my post about IPG's Consumer Experience Practice from MarketingMonger. Boy, he really can do some research!
The Experience Economist just pointed out that the Interpublic Group (you know, the massive marcom conglomerate with $6 billion in annual revenues and 43,000 employees) has formed a special team of EIGHT to deal with changing media like blogs, social bookmarking, youTube, and myspace. The new group is called the "Consumer Experience Practice" which is all well and good except it also appears to be the name of a team at IDEO UK. But regardless of that...
I'm a BIG believer that in order to understand the changing media landscape you must participate. And since Interpublic mainly serves corporations and thus their blogging needs, I thought I'd check out if anyone at Interpublic is blogging.
My initial search for "Interpublic blog" and similar terms revealed that nothing directly related to the new group. But I did find the MWW Group (a part of Interpublic) that has a specialized new media practice called DialogueMedia as well as two blogs - one from their CEO (Michael Kempner) and one from head of DialogueMedia (Tom Biro). Not a bad start.
Based on this discovery, I figured I'd dig a little deeper and see if any of the other Interpublic portfolio companies are blogging. My search process was simple. I visited all the portfolio companies' websites and looked for a blog.
Interpublic is made up of 91 companies so this took a little while.
Interpublic Group. 91 companies. $6 billion in annual revenues. 43,000 employees. 3 corporate blogs.
